Review of the Role of Renewable Energy in Global Energy Scenarios
Our energy future is the result of choice, not fate. Energy scenarios are analytical tools that describe our future energy supply and help decision-makers evaluate the available options and potential implications of their choices. However, to be useful scenarios need to provide a broad range of energy options and include explicit data with regard to their assumptions. This report, commissioned by the International Energy Agency, explains why certain global energy scenarios contain larger shares of renewable energy than others, identifies key assumptions and recommends appropriate settings for assumptions critical to the role of renewable energy that might be used in future global energy scenarios.
